Today is the day John Ternus takes over from Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I thought it was interesting to read Apple’s own biography of Tim now he’s Executive Chair of the Board of Directors — it’s a brief summary of the last 15 years at Apple.
I was pleased to see a few highlights that really go against the grain of the general business narrative in 2026:
Under his leadership, the company reduced its carbon footprint by more than 60 percent below 2015 levels during a period in which revenue nearly doubled.
As well as
He pushed for continued innovation in the accessibility space, believing that Apple products should be made for everyone.
And
He made central to his leadership the notion that Apple should be a place where everyone can feel they belong and where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
I truly believe Apple’s success has been because of these core beliefs and values, not despite them.
It’s an extremely tough act to follow, but I’m excited to see John Ternus take the lead at Apple.
I’ve never tired of following Apple, from the thrilling and awe-inspiring tenure of Steve Jobs, to the calm yet explosive growth under Tim Cook.
Next week, Apple will hold their first event led by John Ternus as CEO, where they’re set to unveil their first ever foldable iPhone.
What will set it apart? Why would anyone want it? What will make it truly Apple?
It’s the dawn of a new Apple, and all will be revealed soon. I can’t wait!
