25 years of the iPod

Apple introduced the iPod 25 years ago.

I didn't know what an iPod was back then, and I was barely into computers at all.

But by 2003, when the third generation iPod came out I absolutely knew, and was fortunate enough to get the device. I felt so fortunate, and I couldn't see how I would ever need another device to take with me for music listening. All my music? In my pocket? And it looks this cool!?

It makes me feel quite old to see the iPod now viewed as some sort of vintage device. But I am thrilled to see Apple celebrating it in such a fun and quirky way — if you to to any wrong URL (causing a 404 error) on the Apple Music website, you're greeted with an interactive original iPod. You can use the click wheel to navigate, and you can even play songs from a selective catalogue of Apple-blessed songs.

Is this a sign of Apple remembering how to have fun, now that John is in charge? I think so, and I am very much here for it.
