Many projects don’t seem to prioritise longevity very much these days.
Think how many buildings built over a hundred years ago are still standing, still cherished, and have great uses.
How often do we build buildings today to those standards? It seems, not often enough.
I don’t know why. I’m not a qualified architect. But I suspect it comes down not to designers or materials, but budgets and policies and priorities.
What if it came down to pride? Not being told or due to requirements, but because you want to?
It used to be impossible to build cheaper or take shortcuts. Now it seems to be the default.
But the default doesn’t have to be the only way. And pride doesn’t have to cost more.
